According to Longview Police Department (LPD) on June 22, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Longview Police Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that appeared to have been involved in a crash.
When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he fled the scene in the vehicle. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Danny Bozarth Jr. of Longview, and he was arrested for Evading with a Vehicle.
As officers continued investigating the crash, the body of 44-year-old Taneka Sheppard was located near the intersection of Mobberly Avenue and Level Street. Longview Police Department Crash Investigators later obtained a warrant for Danny Bozarth Jr. for Collision Involving Death, a second-degree felony.
