Do you remember the story of Alice in Wonderland? Alice came to a fork in the road and asked a cat, “Which road do I take?” “Where do you want to go?” he asked. “I don’t know,” answered Alice. “Then,” said the cat, “it really doesn’t matter.”
Unless we know where we want to go, we are lost before we get started. Goals are essential because they set the agenda of our lives. They give us purpose and clarify our priorities. They give us direction when we are distracted and clarify our vision when our views become distorted. They keep us focused on what truly matters rather than drifting aimlessly.
As followers of Christ, our first and highest goal must be to know Him. Once that becomes the center of our hearts, everything else falls into place. The Apostle Paul said we are to “look forward…to the end of the race…for the prize for which God has called us through Christ Jesus.” Let that single, simple, and significant goal shape everything else. Keep your eyes on the prize. Run the race with purpose.
When your heart is set on pleasing God above all, you will never have to wonder which road to take because every step will lead you closer to Him.
Prayer: Father, may we accept the “road” that You have planned for our lives. May we glorify You in all that we do. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Scripture For Today: I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:13-14
